Biography

I studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where I graduate as a Food Chemistry and then obtained my Master of Sciences and Ph.D. My academic background includes experience as an undergraduate teacher in Mexico, at the Faculty of Chemistry, UNAM. In addition, have been speaker for Diploma in Applied Nutrition from 2022 to the present.
In January 2023, I obtained the National Researcher Level 1 (SNI 1) from the National Council of Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (CONAHCYT) of Mexico and have participated in research projects on acute kidney injury and other diseases related to oxidative stress and food derived antioxidants, and I have published 13 articles and 3 books chapters.
Since October 2023, I joined the Glomerular Disease and Therapeutics Laboratory of Rush University Medical Center as a postdoctoral researcher. My research focused on determining how interleukin deficiency might modify disease progression in rodent models of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and diabetic nephropathy. My main goal is to dissect cellular, molecular and biochemical pathways to design safe and effective treatments targeting the key pathways of their development. My academic background includes analysis of food and biologically active compounds, animal handling (mice and rats) and the use of techniques such as cell culture, western blot, PCR, real-time PCR, ELISA, immunochemistry, HPLC-MS and spectrophotometric and fluorometric methods. My work is characterized by a meticulous approach to data management and documentation, paired with the agility to rapidly adapt to evolving projects priorities and troubleshoots in the lab.
