Biography
Dr. Muhammad Asyraf Mohd Bakri is a Lecturer in Product Design at the School of the Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He obtained his PhD in New Media Design and Technology and Master of Arts in Product and Furniture Design from USM. His interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersection of product design, technology, traditional arts and human well-being. His areas of expertise include assistive technology, art-based interventions, arts in health, sound art and design technology, traditional musical instrument design, sustainable material innovation and bamboo-based product development. He is particularly interested in developing innovative design solutions that integrate traditional musical practices, such as the Angklung, with emerging technologies to support healthy ageing, community engagement and well-being. He is also the founder of the Angklung Healing Art Project, which explores the use of Angklung-based creative activities as an arts-based intervention. His research and practice have contributed to academic publications, community programmes, workshops and interdisciplinary collaborations.
