Editorial Role
Mohammad Reza Mohseni serves as editor for Open Access Journal of Zoological Sciences.
Biography
Mohammad Reza Mohseni is a PhD Candidate in Evolutionary Biology and Macroecology at Concordia University, with a research affiliation at McGill University, Canada. His research focuses on evolutionary biology, macroecology, biomechanics, and the ecological and evolutionary responses of organisms to heat and aridity. His doctoral research investigates how heat and aridity act as selective pressures shaping phenotypic variation, complexity, and innovation in desert ants across the Mediterranean and Saharo-Arabian region. His work integrates comparative morphology, biomechanics, macroecology, and phylogenetic approaches to examine how environmental conditions and evolutionary history contribute to functional and phenotypic variation among species. He has published the book The Ants of Iran along with several peer-reviewed research articles as a first author. His broader interests include evolutionary biology, functional morphology, biomechanics, phylogenetics, desert ecology, biodiversity, and organismal responses to climate change. He also contributes to the scientific community through peer review, teaching, mentoring, and scientific communication.
