Biography
Dr. D. S. Pushparani, PhD, is a Reader and Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Asan Memorial Dental College & Hospital, Tamil Nadu, India, with over 20 years of teaching and research experience. She has guided numerous postgraduate research projects and received Faculty Research Grants (2022, 2023) and Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology-funded projects (2024). Her research interests include diabetes-associated periodontitis, micronutrient imbalance, oxidative stress, inflammatory cytokines, impaired wound healing, enzyme immobilization, biodegradable plastics, biofuel stability and carbon capture.
Dr. Pushpa Rani has published research articles in SCI, Scopus, and PubMed-indexed journals, filed 7 patents, authored 6 books, and contributed 28 book chapters. Her research also encompasses protease enzyme extraction and encapsulation, carbon dioxide sequestration using carbonic anhydrase and thermophilic bacteria, lycopene extraction, biodegradable plastic development, and biofuel stabilization using antioxidants.
She has received several distinctions, including the Proficiency Prize in Biochemistry, Best Paper Presentation Awards, Dr. MGR Centenary Award, Certificates of Excellence in Reviewing, Academic Excellence Award, Young Scientist Award (2025), and Best Teacher Award (2025). She actively contributes as a doctoral committee member, PhD external examiner, resource person, reviewer, and editorial board member for international journals and holds life memberships in professional scientific associations.
