Biography
Andrea Felice Mascolo, DDS, MSc (Oral Surgery), graduated with Honors from the University of Genoa in 2001 and pursued advanced training in Oral Surgery at the University of Santa Clara (Cuba) and the University of Pisa. He also earned a qualification in Dental Implantology at the Branemark Clinic in Gothenburg and attended the Summer School for Clinical Periodontology and Implantology at Heidelberg University. His professional development includes training in facial plastic surgery at King’s College London – St. Mary’s Hospital, with expertise in dermal fillers and Botox, and certification as Senior Implantologist (ISO/IEC 17024). Mascolo has held academic positions at the University of Genoa, where he lectured in Periodontology and Special Odontostomatological Pathology, and collaborated with the University of Milan and the National WHO Center on epidemiological research and clinical programs for medically compromised patients. Since 2017, he has served as Academic Director at the European Institute of Medical Studies (EIMS), a Higher Education Institution accredited in Malta, where he leads the development of innovative interdisciplinary programs integrating dental sciences, biomedical research, and digital health. He is the principal architect of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Dental Science and Research (BSc DSR), designed to align with European educational and quality assurance standards. In 2025, he was appointed to the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) pool of External Quality Assurance (EQA) Peer Reviewers, contributing to the evaluation of higher education institutions in Malta and Europe. In the same year, he became Full Professor in Digital Dentistry and Innovative Clinical Training at Grigol Robakidze University (Georgia), where he develops innovative curricula integrating digital workflows, and coordinates international academic collaborations. Alongside his academic career. Mascolo has been Clinical Director of his private dental practice in Novi Ligure, Italy, since 2001, focusing on minimally invasive oral surgery and implantology for patients with complex medical needs. His professional activity is complemented by extensive international speaking engagements and ongoing research aimed at advancing dental education and clinical practice.
